Mumbai Esports Championship 2020
The Mumbai Esports Championship 2020 (MeSC) marked a significant milestone for the gaming community in Mumbai. As the city’s first regional esports event, MeSC was designed to celebrate and empower gamers. The championship comprised two phases: Online Qualifiers and an Offline Finale, providing a platform for both professional and amateur players to showcase their skills.
Unleashing the Gaming Community: MeSC kick-started with the Online Qualifiers, inviting teams to register under the name of a local cafe. This unique format encouraged cafe participation, fostering a sense of community within the gaming ecosystem. Each team was required to consist of two professional players from the Indian circuit and three amateur players, ensuring a blend of experience and emerging talent.
The response was overwhelming, with over 55 cafes participating and registering teams for the event. This widespread involvement reflected the enthusiasm and engagement of the Mumbai gaming community.
Celebrating Women’s Day and Inclusivity: The second phase of MeSC culminated in a grand offline finale held at Korum Mall in Thane. The finale witnessed the first Female BGMI LAN, wherein 16 female teams battled it out on LAN to claim victory. This initiative was a tribute to Women’s Day, promoting inclusivity and recognizing the growing influence of female gamers in the esports industry.
All participating teams were felicitated by the organizers, acknowledging their contribution to the event’s success. Prominent BGMI influencers and players graced the occasion, showing their support and further energizing the gaming community. The finale served as a thrilling and empowering experience for all participants and spectators.
