Mumbai Esports Championship 2020

Event Brief

The Mumbai Esports Championship 2020 (MeSC) marked a pioneering moment in the city’s gaming scene. As Mumbai’s first regional esports tournament, MeSC was built to empower local talent, promote inclusivity, and bridge the gap between professional and amateur gamers. Structured in two phases—Online Qualifiers and a high-energy Offline Finale—the event brought the gaming community together under one dynamic platform. With special emphasis on female representation, the championship aligned perfectly with International Women’s Day, making it not just competitive but culturally relevant.

Execution

The championship began with Online Qualifiers, where participating teams registered under the banner of a local gaming café. This unique café-based format encouraged neighborhood involvement and grassroots participation, driving over 55 cafés to register teams. Each team was required to include two professional players and three amateur gamers, creating a synergy of experience and fresh talent.

The event culminated in an exciting Offline Finale at Korum Mall, Thane, timed with Women’s Day celebrations. One of the standout moments was India’s first Female BGMI LAN tournament, where 16 all-female teams competed in a highly engaging, live setting. The finale was more than just a tournament—it was a celebration of diversity, inclusion, and community-building.
